Legal (or not) Notice – Notice anything wrong?

Shouldn’t somebody read these things?

LEGAL NOTICE State Environmental Quality Review Notice of Public Scoping Meeting Town of Putnam Valley Planning Board Putnam Valley, New York Date: January 14, 2013 This notice is issued pursuant to Part 617 of the implementing regulations pertaining to Article 8 (State Environmental Quality Review Act) of the Environmental Conservation Law. The Town of Putnam Valley Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed action described below may have a significant effect on the environment and that a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) will be prepared. A positive declaration was adopted by the Putnam Valley Planning Board for the proposed action described below on September 10, 2012. The applicant has now prepared a draft scoping document for the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement and a public scoping meeting date has been set as described below. Name of Action: HYH Subdivision SEQR Status: Type 1 Description of Action: 15 lot subdivision proposing

individual septic systems and wells on a 236.5 acre parcel Location of Action: Pudding Street, east of its intersection with Brookside Avenue extending to the Town of Kent border. Public Scoping: The Planning Board has scheduled a Public Scoping Meeting for February 11, 2013 starting at 6:00 PM or reasonably soon thereafter. Scoping is the process by which the Lead Agency identifies the potentially significant adverse impacts related to the proposed action that are to be addressed in the forthcoming DEIS, including the content and level of detail of the analysis, range of alternatives to be considered, and mitigation measures needed and the identification of non relevant issues. A copy of the applicant’s draft scoping document is attached hereto and can be viewed on the following website: http://www.putnamvalley.com or in the Planning Board Clerk’s office located in Town Hall. All persons interested are invited to be present at said meeting. Written comments can be submitted to the Planning Board clerk at any time up to the meeting date. Following the Public Scoping Session, the Planning Board will prepare and distribute a Final Scoping Document.   1. There has been no mention of HYH for some time. By posting the above legal notice from 2012, are you suggesting that the HYH proposal is being resurrected?

  2. No. This was a 2013 notice. Not trying to be cryptic, but it is wrong. The Highway Superintendent is wrong. The Chair of the Planning Board is wrong. The Zoning Board Chair is misspelled. The Town of Kent Supervisor is wrong. I would think that a legal notice is supposed to be accurate in order to be legal.

  3. I must have become an old-timer at some point. Billy Lee is a legend. Doesn’t the Committee for Conservation of the Environment sound like wonderful? They are empowered to identify open space for possible preservation, and they can comment on environmental issues on planning board applications.

  4. After his stint as chair of the Committee for the Conservation of the Environment, Billy Lee Crowder served as chair of the Planning Board, succeeding John Zarcone (big improvement).
